  Commentary

  • Alright, that's it from us. Time to sign off, goodnight and bye bye!

  • Nitish Rana - This is my first season for KKR, it feels good to contribute. I started well in the previous games but couldn't kick on. This one was an important knock for me. They had a plan of not bowling outside off to me, and then I decided I will go after all the deliveries that are angled in towards my body. It paid off.

  • Dinesh Karthik - A win keeps you happy. It feels good. This is the kind of day you make the moves and they work out. The wristspinners are doing the job for us. You've got to try and separate your batting and captaincy and do the job.

  • Player of the match - Nitish Rana

  • Gautam Gambhir - You have to give it to them. At one stage we thought they wouldn't get 170-175. We tried our best but it was always going to be tough against three quality spinners. We bowled a lot of balls in Russell's radar. We had plans for him but when he gets going it's tough for the bowlers to execute those plans. The next game is important for us. If we get a win in Bangalore the confidence will get better. We still have ten more games to go, and a lot of work to do.

  • Dinesh Karthik will be extremely happy with his side. They dominated Delhi in all departments, and the 71-run victory will also help them in terms of net run rate. Chasing 201, Delhi lost their top three very early. Rishabh Pant (43) and Glenn Maxwell (47) played handy cameos but couldn't carry on. They lost their last seven wickets for just 43 runs. For Kolkata, Sunil Narine and Kuldeep Yadav picked up three wickets each, while the remaining bowlers also chipped in with a wicket each.

  Full commentary

  • Thanks to Robin Uthappa (19-ball 35), Nitish Rana (35-ball 59) and Andre Russell (12-ball 41), Kolkata have managed to post 200 for 9 in 20 overs. Asked to bat, Kolkata lost Sunil Narine early, and with Chris Lynn struggling, it was Uthappa who took the attack to the bowlers. Once both of them fell, Rana and Russell took over and added 61 runs for the fifth wicket. However, Trent Boult (2 for 29) and Rahul Tewatia (3 for 18) did manage to script some fightback as Kolkata could only collect 12 runs from the final two overs.

  • Conditions - In both the matches played at the Eden Gardens this season, the spinners have got good assistance and not much is expected to change. Batsmen will get value for runs provided they imply themselves. It has been quite hot, but the temperature is expected to drop in the evening.

  • Dinesh Karthik - All teams seem to be chasing, gives us a chance to put a score on the board. We all expect ourselves to bat a little better. We all can play a bit longer.

  • Gautam Gambhir - Looks a good wicket, not going to change much. If anything, it'll be better. Trying to control it (emotions). I couldn't have achieved all that we did without the support of the Kolkata fans. We all know how destructive Jason Roy can be. This wicket will suit him as well. Hope he can continue the same form. We have one change. Chris Morris comes in place of Dan Christian.

  • Here's the preview:

  • IPL 11 Match 13 Kolkata v Delhi

There is little to choose between the sides who both have one win each so far in the IPL

  • Meanwhile, Delhi have managed to gather a bit of momentum after defeating Mumbai Indians in their last encounter. They will once again hope Jason Roy, their last-match hero, to come good. Gambhir too will have a point to prove, and will expect the likes of Rishabh Pant, Glenn Maxwell and Shreyas Iyer to fire against a below-par Kolkata pace attack.

  • It was under Gambhir that Sunil Narine became a superstar, Kuldeep Yadav became a force to reckon with, Andre Russell realised his full all-round potential, Robin Uthappa rediscovered his touch and Chris Lynn became known to Indian fans. Now all of those men, along with Dinesh Karthik the current captain, will have to devise a way to stop Delhi and get back to winning ways after losing two games in a row.It was under Gambhir that Sunil Narine became a superstar, Kuldeep Yadav became a force to reckon with, Andre Russell realised his full all-round potential, Robin Uthappa rediscovered his touch and Chris Lynn became known to Indian fans. Now all of those men, along with Dinesh Karthik the current captain, will have to devise a way to stop Delhi and get back to winning ways after losing two games in a row. Their major issue though is the lack of firepower in the pace bowling department.

  • Hey there! Hello and welcome to our live coverage of Match 13 that will be played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Daredevils. The last time Gautam Gambhir stepped on to the Eden Gardens as a member of the opposition team in the Indian Premier League was way back in April 2010. How Gambhir changed the fortune of Kolkata over the next seven years is well documented. The occasion cannot be missed as he returns to the venue as Delhi’s skipper against the franchise that he led to two IPL titles.

  Full commentary
